To everyone it seems as if he has got cold feet but Annie surprisingly unlike others decides to take him at face value at what he says and thinks she should continue as before. There are so many grifted relationships of Annie are told in this story including mom-daughter, friendships, interaction with colleagues. Watch as she swears off making new friends, follows a mystery with her next door neighbor, and grows to stand up for herself. This won't end well camille pagan full. She handed her resignation, because as she explained, she couldn't stand it anymore. Annie has quite a bit to process: her relationship with her mother, her memories of her father, her friendships, her love life, and her former career. Annie is a little socially awkward but mostly just not sure how it all went so wrong all at once. When I wasn't laughing, I was surprised by how truly invested I was in Annie's happiness. This great author didn't disappoint me! The story is told primarily through emails and diary entries. It's a light, quick, quirky read but at the same time deeply touching. I gave this book 4 stars and I recommend this read. A witty and authentic story about a woman discovering who she really is.
It's getting more interesting at each page. 5 stars out of five and I would read others by this writer. Camille Pagán is a master at creating lovable, unconventional characters we relate to and cheer for--Annie Mercer is THAT character. So, I just found out today that my husbands 2 partners are now on quarantine and he is the only doc in the office now. I love her growth, and I love her openness, however unwilling, to broach her own boundaries. My favorite bits is the Neighborhood Association emails where this dude is increasingly asking to be unsubscribed and is ignored repeatedly. She is no longer working in her role as a chemist, she is living with her mother who has her own life struggles, has a falling out with a friend and her fiance has taken off for unexpected trip. This won't end well camille pagani. When a new woman moves in across the street and Annie finds a PI following her, her vow becomes harder and harder to stick to. She begins to wonder how her life might have been if she was more resilient and took different actions in her past. So I'm choosing to evaluate this as adult fiction novel, instead of romance. I love everything Camille writes, and this one won't disappoint you even if you've never had the Pagan experience. I would give it a solid 3. Adding insult to injury, Annie is also experiencing a possibly unrepairable rift with her BFF Leesa. And against all logic or her personal behavior code, Annie begins to feel close to both her new neighbor -- and to the investigator.
