It took me a while to get into the story, I thought some of Harry's decisions were odd and slowed down the pacing, and some of the details slowed things down too (like how many details did we really need to have about Harry trying to find a way to listen to the tape, almost losing the tape, etc. )
Because of the cold, they share the sleeping bag again, and Peeta puts his arms around her. Katniss is surprised to learn that Peeta's family can't afford to eat some of the goods they sell at his family's bakery, and this knowledge forces her to rethink her view of Peeta's life. The authors prose was phenomenal and really set the tone and the atpmosphere in such a way that I was able to feel as though I was a part of it, espcially during the Krampusnacht celebration and Christmas Eve scavenger hunt. This one kept me on my toes and just when I thought I had things figured out, I was hit with a twist and a reveal. The bride answers instantly:" In laws". The Holbeck's also like to play a bunch of "family" oriented games (which after reading this book, I don't want anything to do with Krampus 😬 Lol! The pace is rapid, and the plot is focused. Harry looks for information on Bobby's death, convinced she's still being followed. Cato must know where they are now, so they cook their food and then head back to the cave they've been staying in. With this potentially shocking information in mind, Harry must endure more family events, each one more dangerous than the last.
I just kept reading to find out what was going to happen next. Psychological Thriller. They've been whistling back and forth to communicate. It was my pleasure to offer a candid review! A whirlwind romance and engagement quickly following.

Though Katniss begins to develop genuine feelings for Peeta, the affection she shows him almost always has an ulterior motive: to please Haymitch and elicit presents from him. Side note: I googled what the male version of cougar was and discovered it's zaddy 🤦♂️🤦♂️I can't unlearn this info, and now neither can you. Something awesome is on its way. She wakes up on the floor to the smell of gas. During the dinner she meets with charismatic but also scary, powerful Robert Holbeck, her future father in law. Katniss thinks they're supposed to be acting as though they're in love, not actually being in love, implying that she feels something for Peeta as well. Gianna was thought to have died of a drug overdose and Alison by suicide. He didn't mean to kill Bobby. Bobby jumped or fell from a building, with only a young blond woman as witness.

The thing is, their relationship is progressing rapidly and Harry has yet to be introduced to his family. Also, it doesn't appear that she really trusts or relies on her beloved.
