Join Date: Jul 2015. Savage doesn't have weaknesses. I could lift the bolt after the shot but it was next to impossible to pull back to eject the spent brass. Target rifle (Remington or rem clone). I purchased a Savage Axis II in. Never worry about what you own, get that bolt smooth and your just as well off as the next guy. I might take the bolt apart and clean it up but it is an Axis. Similar issue if I'm slow going up with my 338. That fellow still competes in Camp Pendleton and Perry, and he does not touch a Remington, Ruger was not even mentioned. I may have an issue with my bolt needing to be repaired from the factory but I hardly think I bought a sub tier rifle. The empty brass didn't seemed to be deformed in any way, that I could see. The bolt handle would rotate upwards, to the open position, be it wouldn't budge! Literally a pin point. The issue is that we've had an issue with the bolt being hard to open after the round has been fired. The other issue is the bolt. Savage axis bolt upgrade. Granted, I'm not using expensive ammo. Also the thrust bearing takes friction down to near zero compared to all the other kits that still have friction. I fired one more shot when I got my bull and four shots today. Then an Allen screw is put in with lock tight and set to the correct depth. 308 caliber, the bolt is smooth as silk without a round in the chamber.
Use it lots, if it's relatively new might just need to be broken in. Im not much of a bolt gun shooter and the gun in question is my g/f's Savage. It is easy to install and does make a difference. Sharp shooter has parts that help, but if the chamber is not good.. oh well. You may not edit your posts.

Shaming me for not spending lots of money is not going to resolve my issue. None of the older style bolt lift kits will work with the new singe piece firing pin but this one will. You can read about it here. A rough chamber will cause the same problem. NOTE: I have since this article come up with a much better bolt lift kit system.
