As I thought about it the incredible thing to me is that God became a man, healed the sick, enabled the lame to walk, even raised the dead... and even He was rejected! If you want righteous, faithful, loving, peaceful guys to marry someday, then help them today to flee youthful lusts and pursue purity.
Instead of endlessly stewing on it you need to bring it to the Lord acknowledging your own weakness and inability. We look at our lives and we sort of explain away the great blessings that we have, and we say but this thing I don't have and so I'm mad about that and I want to get that thing. What could have messed him up leaving him damaged and twisted? Yet here it is a patriarch whose physical beauty, whose physical attractiveness, is going to attract the attention of a foreign woman, the attention of Potiphar's wife. The Lord is with his people. We need to remember that there was a lot going on for Joseph in these prison days. It is dwarfed by the 'but God' in this passage... 'But God' intended it for good. That phrase is going to become important a little bit later. "The Lord was with Joseph", in the beginning and the end of this, is the theme that the narrator the Bible wants us to see throughout this whole story. God was teaching Joseph some lessons: a. humility. God has a plan and purpose for your life and it's a good plan, one to give you hope. But for Joseph and for us, the Lord uses these times of flourishing not to sort of give us an uninterrupted time of happiness, but to remind us and to assure us that the Lord is with us in good times as well as bad. Heavenly Father, we pray that you would indeed help us to see Christ and that you would help us to see the goodness of Jesus Christ who was forsaken at the cross, so that we would not be forsaken, that you would never leave us or forsake us by the presence of your Joly Spirit. Those that knew her would often hear the many stories of the things in her life that had gone wrong and whose fault it was.
