If once the float bowl is full, the car still won't start and run, you have some other problem in the carb such as plugged jets or accelerator pump nozzle. Basically I'm just trying to get info on how the return side being plugged could effect the pressure under these conditions. A fuel pump draws the fuel from the tank through fuel lines and delivers it through a fuel filter to either a carburetor or fuel injector, then delivered to the cylinder chamber for combustion.
The short answer is a return-style system, given its mechanical simplicity and consistency. To regulate the fuel pressure, the ECU simply adjusts the pump speed or fuel injector rate. Yea that's a return, you can do either plug it or send it back to the tank. I also dont want to wast the money i have spend on the fuel lines just to take them off to incorporate the filter with the return line. The electric fuel pump continuously pumps gasoline, ensuring that the system has the correct level of pressure. When I replaced the engine in my 77 3/4 4wheel drive, I had to use my stock pump. I guess we should all get the 2 port if there is no return line and save a lot of B. S. end of story. There was a fuel filter on the inlet side of the pump, as there usually is on a BMW 2002. Does plugging that line create pressure in the tanks that can crack the valve??? Just asking so we can all sort this variable out of the equation. Tools Needed to Change a Fuel Pump. When your fuel pump isn't on top of its game, it often can't keep up with this increased fuel demand. No fuel filter at all or filter on outlet side of pump = prime and start.
