By tapping it for NPT, you have cut away the anodizing, and the ethanol in the fuel will eat away at the aluminum. The further away the regulator is from the destination fuel rail, carburetor, diesel injection pump, etc., the longer the fuel line is between them. Different combinations and applications will have different needs where a fuel pressure regulator should be placed. A 1/2 PSI change in fuel pressure is not significant for 60 PSI EFI systems, however for a 2 PSI system it can be dramatic. Not placing the regulator close enough to the final destination of the fuel can cause a dramatic pressure loss. Help with installing Fuel Pressure Regulator. I called Magna fuel last night and they have them for 20. We spent a lot more time on this bracket then its worth, but that's the only way we do things around here! Re-install fuel rail and assemble intake stuff. The main problem that I had was the fact that the "lip" at the bottom protruded just *slightly* too much for the regulator to fit in it's bracket once it was mounted. In these instances, the amount of fuel pressure error created by placing the regulator away from the destination is insignificant. No hose clamps are used in this system at all. So I used two washers on the lower screws, which made it stick out further than the top. It's interesting to consider that if the regulator is placed in front of the fuel destination it can actually increase fuel pressure – especially with carbureted applications. Guess i'm not the only getto rigger.
Precision CNC machined from 6061-T6 billet aluminum. For a single 4 Holley type application they always are mounted on pass side of engine hanging from the lines. 1 1/4" NPT to -6AN male. There is also no cutting or modifying of the OE hoses.
