Please do an book about the Kohmaizer, I would LOVE to know more about his backstory). Unfortunately, there were many things that I just did not like about this novel. I'm, personally, a fan of multiple POV's in this world because the plot gets SO INTENSE that it really helps you to get more invested in the story as you see every angle of the characters' decision-making. Upon first glance, Dance of Thieves by Mary E. Pearson was the banal and overused enemies to lovers plot set in a new fictitious world. It's a twist, and you may be shocked, but it's a twist you feel like you should have seen coming. If you're worried it may be too much- don't. After witnessing her mother being stolen, Kazi shut herself off to most people. Quick Stats: Overall: 5/5 Stars.

This stereotypical YA book was everything I love about a predictable, feel-good book but with an added flavor of fresh individuality. She lived during the Komizar's rule, when thief lost fingers when they were caught. I told them that we also had the bad timing of being plummeted into the middle of a power war spawned by Karsen Ballenger's death. Dance of Thieves was a really fun listen, which built on the world created in the remnant series. If someone committed cruelties, she commits cruelties against them. Overall, I was really surprised by how much depth these characters all had and how captivating the story was. Instead, the book focuses on the romance, having the characters passionately kiss and melt into each other every couple scenes, as if the fact that two people are in love puts all morality on hold. I would turn each page, hoping that Jase couldn't possibly be involved in anything nefarious and wanting a happily ever after for these two. But there is one thing I've been asking myself for a while: how did you came up with the vendan language?
I was slightly forgiving of this, because their distrust for one another often made sense. Set in the same world as the Remnant Chronicles series, Dance of Thieves is the first book in Mary E. Pearson's spin-off duology that takes place eight years after the end of the Remnant Chronicles trilogy. Secondly, I think there were a lot of unnecessary scenes. He didn't trust me any more than I trusted him. Was there a specific country/region in our world that corresponded to the kingdoms and regions in theirs? From the beginning, this book pulls readers in with political intrigue and action.
Unlike it's predecessor, The Remnant Chronicles, there wasn't any political intrigue or plot. As the novel progressed, I did come to love the romance between Kazi and Jase, but initially, their feelings for each other were a bit too sudden and not entirely believable. I love a cliche as much as the next person, but I would so much rather read something infused with ambitious originality. Some might say their mutual feelings for each other grew too instantly. I finished the entire series in less than a week.. Although The Remnant Chronicles has a special place in my heart and will probably never be replaced as my favorite Mary Pearson series, Dance of Thieves did not disappoint. "You must find the magic that warms your skin in winter, the magic that perceives what cannot be seen, the magic that curls in your gut with fierce power and will not let you give up, no matter how long or cold the days. I loved the maps, they were quite helpful. I would very much like to see that. Your lips, your hands, your heartbeat. I desperately wanted to know how my ship was doing after the events of The Beauty of Darkness since we didn't get too much of an epilogue. Yes, there's a lot of action, but the romance plotline is at the heart of most scenes. There was a purity and honesty in the characters that I don't see or comment on very often, which I felt made this an excellent choice for young adults. What happens to the world after the dust from a revolution has settled?

However, when Kazi runs into Jase, they have a... skirmish of sorts that I wont spoil... and both end up being kidnapped and hauled away by a slave trader. However, their lack of moral questioning is incredibly disturbing. They believe the captain who betrayed Morrighan is hiding there under the protection of said family.
However, Kazi is searching for a criminal that she believes Jase's family is harboring. Be prepared - the book is looooong. Anyways, one question I have is at the end of the very first book, who threw the bird? As far as the new (main) characters - this is told in a dual POV. Catching real balls was not her forte. I suppose it's because I haven't read The Remnant Chronicles. Yes, if you read DOT, you will be spoiled for TRC, but the focus is not on the same story. This book was no exception. The world was so much safer when you only had yourself to lose. This is what would be if Inej was Kazi, and she never became one of the crows.

Sorry, if that doesn't make sense, but I started a writing a story over the summer about a girl in the Victorian era, bent a fulfilling the wish of her true love, to end her life that will end his suffering. I think the ending gives the second novel in this series potential.
