I found a way to change the frequency of the "beeping" and the sensitivity of the backup radar, but couldn't find a way to change the time that the backup camera stays on while in drive. This is the first time this has happen to me. Previously, the camera image left and the radio (or whatever) info returned on the MMI when speed reached about 5 mph or so. I have the 12 inch screen so the options on the bottom half of the screen still worked (heated seats, etc). For at least 10 or 15 seconds it seems I am driving while seeing what is behind me on the MMI screen.

I will add that with the other times this has happened its only stayed on for about 10 seconds and went off. If unplugging the camera does not cause it to return, then the radio is the issue and will need to be replaced. When in reverse, the backup camera comes on. I messed with my back up camera settings and now even in Drive my camera stays on or I get the black screen that says "Caution images may appear reversed...
