Trailside Suites is located just steps from the Katy Trail, the country's longest recreational rail trail. Yes, School House Bed & Breakfast Inn has no smoking rooms for your comfort and convenience. It was such a treat!!! It is so cute and comfy! The cute little stop offers bike rentals (perfect for hitting the Katy Trail) and plenty of tables indoor and out for breakfast or lunch. We booked a room with a jacuzzi as I have health issues and need that little pampering after riding, but with or without the jacuzzi, you'll find the schoolhouse B & B to be the perfect place to stay. Located in the Rocheport, the School House has great access to some of the most picturesque portions of the Katy Trail. The pain of website production was minimal. Would stay here again.
I'm used to B & B owners saying breakfast is at 9 am. Sherri, a licensed massage therapist, will also offer on-site massage services, combining Swedish, deep tissue, sports massage and trigger point therapy techniques. When I inadvertently selected an inappropriate room (2nd floor) the staff noticed and contacted me with two better options. Lisa fixed us pizza and let us use the lower level to hang out. I am so glad my hubby found this on line and made the reservation! The bed and breakfast opened in 1988 after 15 months of renovation. Treat yourself to a 'real B&B' by staying in the School House building. It's all here at The School House, where staying in class takes on a whole new meaning! Mike, the owner-host is a great chef in his own ritght and had baked chocolate chip cookies and made iced tea to tied us over until dinner. GPSr in photo NOT required). The hosts were very accommodating. Has Owner's Quarters. Great beds, secure bike storage for the night, wonderful breakfast to fuel us for the day.
The owner was so gracious and had all the equipment to fill up the tires on my bike. It was the end of a vacation of bike riding on the Katy. Anonymous on 07/15/2015 08:40 PM: If you put it in the category of "the water wasn't cold at the trailhead" you don't ride much in July heat... 2 hours can make the difference between a pleasant day on the trail and serious pending on your riding distance, etc. Just a couple blocks from the trail. This Trip Advisor Hall of Fame property offers flickering fireplaces, private hot tubs, en suite jetted tubs and/or amazing HUGE showers, plus luxury linens on your king size bed. You can rest assured that your peaceful night's sleep will be followed by a delicious meal waiting for you in the morning. He wanted to give us breakfast at 9am and most Bikers I know would never start a ride that late in the July heat, so we told he didn't need to make us breakfast that we'd be gone and he did step up and make us breakfast at 7am, which was very nice and greatly appreciated, but he made us feel guilty about it. Our regular breakfast time for our leisure guests, especially on weekends, is 9 am, but we try our best to accommodate early breakfast requests for cyclists trying to 'beat the Summer heat' on the trail. The innkeepers were accommodating, helpful and the property is beautiful.
We booked the day before, so too late to arrange early check in but it would've been very useful if we'd been able to check in earlier than 4pm or even drop our bikes off. Compare 168 available, short term vacation home properties, starts from $36. They had a place for us to put our bike (we ended up keeping them in our vehicle). The hospitality, accommodations, and food were incredible and we highly recommend this venue to travelers and bikers alike. The owners were both wonderful and helpful. Fully updated facility with free washer & dryer, great shower, very comfortable beds and no waiting around for a cooked breakfast but plenty of options offered in your room.
