First show in Chicago was awful, prob worst I ever saw the Dead! The boys were on this particular evening, almost as if the unseen forces wouldn't allow them to bow out on a negative note. As I struggled with keeping my physical body at pace with my teacher, Citizen Cope's Sideways blasted through the speakers. I cry every time i listen to it. All you young Deadheads out easure this music. Those who have found The Way, know there is only one. What can be discussed/argued/observed that hasn't been already? Subject: Most Contentiuous Show OF ALL TIME!!!! Do what I do, listen to this show and remember all the good times, because this is definitely not one of them. We might love to complain about challenges (I'm totally guilty of this). Have you interpreted the lyrics in So Many Roads to mean something else? I am sorry Phil, just can't handle your vocal. His playing/singing was truly analogous to the "triumph of the human soul". And if so, do you play so people will sit home and listen to your album or record so they'll come out to see you perform?
I love the Dead and I hate giving them bad reviws because everyone has a bad day here and there and I think they deserve a good review for everything or at least a decent one. I dont think anyone who has anything bad to say about any show the dead ever played dont aprecieate the grateful dead and what they gave to us. Enjoying So Many Roads by Grateful Dead? As such, even though this show isn't up to the quality of the Dead in their prime, it has great historical value. PS: I have to rate this show as a 5 for the simple fact that it IS a 5 to me personally. As I learned about his life, I realized how many people depended on him, and he was a yes guy. For what its all worth this is show (or all of '95)is not that bad at all - suppose that some might want it to be a "stellar" sort of show -. My best friend's life was changed by 8-4-79, not the greatest show by my standards. Without a dependable sense of direction, I know it's a given that I will be navigating strange towns and unfamiliar streets without a clue as to where I am. This man was awakening so much from deep within me that needed healing and he was a constant presence in my mind. After a year like this one, can't say I blame him. In a world that has no shortage of messages about how to achieve fulfillment and happiness, pinging us from the moment we arise, until we lay back down again, we desperately need discernment. Nothing mroe or less, just a one on one with the crowd and his fans to tell them one last time how he feels. A fitting way to end a long and glorious run of incredible music and both Jerry, and Heads alike. Honestly, what makes any of you think that there is even the chance that they would be as good or even comparable to the glory days of the 70's in their later years. The show, by a musical standpoint, is poor. I've always thought that people who created drama when there wasn't any couldn't handle the quiet or know how to be in stillness. When Phil sings the final line of Box of Rain, he really sounds like he is signing off for good.

Download it for historical significance if you must, but standing alone as a musical artifact, this show is pretty much worthless.
